As some of you may know by now; I've been writing for a long time. I've been a copyrighted writer since I was in my teens, and have renewed my writings under the US Copyright Office again, with all the new works I write, and rewrite. As I slowly nurture this gift, like many others; throughout the years you grow, and learn yourself, others, time, space, light, darkness, air, emotions, God/Goddess, earth, and being; I began to appreciate given thoughts and emotions on a different level of understanding. I guess this comes with age, and patience. Wisdom is not a given thing, it is earned, through experience, and not by all. It is understood by those with the third eye, I don't mean the intellectual eye or understanding. It is innate, spiritual....words cannot describe. Think of someone like Maya Angelou, Phyllis Wheatley, Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, or Paul Mooney, and many others who change consciousness with words, ideas, thoughts, and actions. I mean positive change for humanity, and respect for humanity, respect to be oneself, different, but beautiful. So with this in mind I add one more poem for this day. A poem I wrote during the 1980's. Please Send me your comments, and Enjoy.
The Other Voice
She's a poet, we're all poets
we see time changing, stars lingering
pass the clouds
in silent languages, travelling thoughts
in many speeds
my mind, your mind
She's a poet, he's a poet,
we're all poets
The other voice inside,
hidden between two colors
of consciousness, another time,
someones mind
searching to be seen, to be heard,
aloud in a dim light room
full of desperate hearts
eager for love, respect,
fantasy, and desire
The other voice calling
for you to respond
will you listen?
Let it latch on to your lost
confused mind,
come be apart of this voice,
the other voice,
and Smile

What A Joy
It's been several months since I've written in my blog. I am here in Brasilia, Brazil after spending time with family, and friends back home in New York. My most highlighted moment of being back in the U.S. was having the chance to visit Napa Valley in California. I always wanted to visit, to see the beauty of the earth, and land. To smell the air, feel the warmth of the sun on my face, and you know what? It was all that, and some. I drank wine all afternoon, a few sips here, a few sip there, and just a bit more. So whatever you desire to do in life, where ever you dream to go...just do it. Plan your time and prepare, save money, and enjoy each moment, with the joy and love of Life. Stop saying maybe next year or next time, we know the saying.."tomorrow is not promised", and this is so so true. Don't take time for granted. Embrace it, and enhance each moment with what makes you happy.
Another moment I'm so looking forward to is reciting at the 235th Marine Corp Ball this year on November 5, 2010. The thought of this event and my participation bring me so much joy. I have attended several Marine Ball's; but I have never recited my own work, so this will be a first for me, and for many of the people who know me; but don't know me as a writer, poet, or lyricist. So you my audience will get the chance to read this poem and send back your comments. I want to know what you like about the poem, and how it touched you. I hope it brings you joy.
“I Sing, therefore I’m Free”
I sing, therefore I’m Free
for liberty, for you, for me
To say the things we mean
with honesty, We fight
for humanity-We, the People
from all walks of life, sing,
live, love, protect,
and share for the children
not to despair, our generation,
our Legacy
For freedom, we shed our
blood , blood of our ancestors
who laid the foundation of this being
I Sing, therefore I’m Free
Come walk with me, as We Salute
Those before us, we salute the blood
shed, so we can sing,
I sing, therefore I’m Free
